Welcome to the Montreat Scottish Society (MSS) web site. Now is the time to join or continue your membership in order to support our efforts. Join our mailing list (click here and send us an email)!

Annual MSS Meeting & Dinner The Society will hold its annual meeting at a dinner on Saturday evening, May 24th, at 6 p.m. in the Barn, Montreat Dinner is $10, please email a reservation (you can pay at the event) by Friday, May 23rd so we can plan. Some officers and board members will be elected.
The MSS board and officers for 2007 - 2008 are:
President: Mary Alice Ramsey; President-elect: Ann Abernethy Vinson; Treasurer: Bill McCaskill; Chaplain: John Craven; Secretary: Gladys Brooks; At Large Members: Barbara Sneed, Bob Neil, John Hinkle, Alice Starkey.

Kirkin' o' the Tartan The 2008 Kirkin' o' the Tartan will be held on Sunday, May 25 at Anderson Auditorium. The Rev. Dr. Edward A. McLeod, Jr., is the guest 2008 Kirkin' preacher. He is Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Raleigh, NC. 
    At 10:15 a.m., the Montreat Scottish Pipes & Drums performed at a Pipin' o' the Green outside Anderson Auditorium. The Kirkin' service started at 11 a.m.

St. Andrews Tea  —  NEW DATE! A free high tea and reception will be held this coming November. Members and prospective members are invited to the free reception to enjoy delicious food and great company! Scottish Saturday at the Movies
Winter 2009
   A fourth season of movies and potluck dinners for free "Scottish Saturday at the Movies" in Montreat is for society members, guests and area residents. The potluck dinner and movie series will kick off in January 2009 . The events will start at 6 pm with the potluck dinner and the movie showing about 7 pm. Movies will be announced later this Fall.

Fourth of July Parade Friday, July 4, 2007, Montreat,  NC; The Montreat Scottish Society members and the Montreat Scottish Pipes & Drums will marched in this year's July 4th celebration. If you would like to march in the parade with the Society, look for details to be posted later.

52nd Grandfather Mountain Highland Games July 11 - 13, 2008; Grandfather Mountain, Linville, NC 2005
    The Montreat Scottish Society will have two tents where members can visit, rest and watch some of the proceedings.The Montreat Scottish Society Pipe & Drums participates in the games.
