Montreat Scottish Society
About Us...
The MONTREAT SCOTTISH SOCIETY was founded in 1980 at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games by a multi-clan group of residents of Montreat, North Carolina. There are many people of Scottish descent that come to Montreat and western North Carolina annually for vacation, recreation, and religious conferences. It was only natural to establish some type of organization that would appeal to these people.
Our Scottish Society includes several hundred folks who enjoy people, bagpipes, and things Scottish. Many members are of Scottish descent, but we welcome all, regardless of ancestral background. We provide a Scottish heritage presence in Montreat, a town in western North Carolina that is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains fifteen miles east of Asheville. It is a Presbyterian (USA) Conference Center and is the home of Montreat College.
The purpose of the Montreat Scottish Society is to promote interest in and support of Scottish traditions and fellowship among its members and friends.
The Society sponsors the well-known Montreat Scottish Society Pipes & Drums band, which recently recorded a CD.

To join the Montreat Scottish Society, click here for a membership form (pdf file) that you can print and send with your annual dues/donation.
