MSS Scottish Gala 2007
Saturday, April 14, 2007 — 6 pm at Assembly Inn, Montreat

The Montreat Scottish Society will kick off its Scottish Gala scheduled on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Assembly Inn in Montreat.
The Inn will be turned into a Scottish castle for the evening black-tie or formal scottish attire event.
Click to printout a registration form (pdf file) for the Scottish Gala. A separate invitation will be mailed to members who are current in their dues. The cost for the Gala is $70 per person for members; $90 per person for non-members.
Because of limited seating, the sooner you send your reservation in with your check will help insure that you will be a part of this event. Also, please send in the names of the attendees so that we can properly prepare nametags and seating cards.
The event paid reservations are first-come, up to available space limitation of 200 people.
The formal black-tie or Scottish attire affair has sold out quickly for the three previous functions.
You can check the mailing label on your MSS newsletter to see if you are up-to-date on your Society dues. An “06” near your name on the label indicates that your dues are paid through 2006. If you are not current with your dues (i.e., no year on the label), then please remit your dues ($25 a couple; $15 individual) with your payment for the Gala.
The Gala will open with a 6 p.m. reception. There will be a silent auction during the reception period featuring fine wines, Scottish foods, glassware, and much more! The Gala dinner will start at 7 p.m. and will feature Beef Abernethy — i.e., Beef Wellington Fillet.

The evening’s program will feature Doug and Darcy Orr with a unique musical presentation about the connection between the music of Scotland and Appalachia. The Orr’s are in the research phase of a new book, tentatively titled Wayfaring Strangers, based on the same theme as their presentation. The book is being planned with NPR’s host of The Shamrock & Thistle, Fiona Ritchie. Darcy will edit the book, while Doug and Fiona are co-authors. Doug retired last year as president of Warren Wilson College.

Annual Montreat Scottish Society membership is $15 for an individual or $25 for a couple. Click for membership form.
